The Design/Build Process
The design/build process allows the homeowner to get what they want, not what our design staff wants. We will assist and guide you in the design and product selection phases of the project and we appreciate your time commitment.
Successful remodeling projects don’t just happen. It takes a great deal of time and effort to design a project that is both functional and beautiful. Our professional approach through education and communication will ease the burden and make your project an exciting and wonderful time for all involved. The design/build process has 3 phases:
INITIAL VISIT
On our first visit to your home, we will explain the design/build process. We’ll carefully listen to your ideas and answer your questions. We will honestly evaluate your current living space, assist you in determining your needs and wants and help establish a plan and an investment range that will accomplish your immediate and future goals.
DESIGN PHASE
OK! Now that we know what you would like to do, we can help you refine the established investment range. A retainer fee will then be required to start the process. The retainer fee varies depending on the size of the project. We’ll carefully track the time required to complete the design/build process according to our agreement.
All design drawings will remain the property of Drew Construction Inc. The retainer fee will be credited to the construction contract and the start of the project. We will prepare professional floor plans, elevations and shop drawings using CAD software, including a detailed electrical and lighting plan, if needed. We will prepare a product selection list with all the items, finishes and fixtures that we’ll need to complete the project.
The list will include suppliers, directions, hours of operation, contact person, and items that you need to select. We work hard to make the design phase as easy as possible, for all involved. Once you make all your final selections we will incorporate them into the final estimates, scope of work and construction contract documents. Our construction contract and scope of work includes a start & completion date, in writing, with warrantee and all pertinent information.
CONSTRUCTION PHASE
All final selections have been made and the paperwork is complete. You’re excited about the design and ready to get started. Now all you have to do is relax and let us do what we do best. We maintain a safe and organized jobsite that minimizes dust, noise, and stress as much as possible on the homeowner. We look forward to serving you.
